Here is the prompt for the Five Page Paper which is due when you return from summer break. Your paper must do ONE or BOTH of the following things:
Part A.
In five pages discuss continuities and changes in at least ONE of the following time periods, 1492-1607, 1607-1776, 1776-1860, 1860-1945, and 1945 to the Present as they relate to AT LEAST THREE of the following groups of people:
Native Americans, Immigrants, Poor Whites, African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian Americans, Women, Wealthy Americans, the Middle Class/Bourgeoisie, Settlers/Pioneers, Religious/Agnostic/Atheist Groups of Americans, and Foreigners Affected by American Foreign/Economic/Social Policy
Part B.
Analyze bias in Howard Zinn's Peoples History. What is his agenda? How does he go about pushing this agenda? Give examples of bias in his book. Do you think he goes too far or just right? Why?
Be sure to include MLA (you haven't learned these yet, but I'd prefer MLA since that is what is used for History papers in college) or APA citations (this is what you did during Sophomore World History)
ALSO, I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW PROUD I AM OF YOU WHO TOOK THE AP WORLD HISTORY EXAM. In years gone past, AP students at FHS have seen usually ONE or NO students pass the exam. YOU did far, FAR better than that. WHETHER YOU PASSED OR NOT, YOUR HARD WORK PAID OFF, YOU HAVE MUCH TO BE PROUD AND THANKFUL FOR. THOSE OF YOU WHO PASSED CAN EXPECT A SURPRISE WHEN YOU RETURN TO SCHOOL. AND LET ME OFFER THIS CHALLENGE: IF WE CAN RAISE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO PASS THE TEST IN US HISTORY THIS COMING YEAR BY TWO YOU WILL GET AT LEAST A PIZZA PARTY AND SOMETHING ELSE WE CAN DISCUSS AS A CLASS DURING YOUR SENIOR YEAR.
AGAIN. WELL DONE. YOU HAVE SHOWN YOUR QUALITY AND I AM WELL SATISFIED WITH YOU ALL.
